Welcome to the conditions page.
If you were expecting to see a list of western medical conditions list here, I am really sorry to disappoint you. The truth of the matter is that the Committee of Advertising Practice/Advertising Standards Authority (CAP/ASA) in the UK has stopped all complementary therapy practitioners being able to say what they can treat.
These rules stem from sheer ignorance of the Chinese understanding of wellness and disease and is being driven by certain people in the UK who cannot accept that something works even if it’s not seen as ‘evidence-based medicine’. The fact is that there is a substantial amount of research that points to the efficacy and safety of acupuncture but this is measured against a model of research that was developed to determine whether one prescription drug works against a placebo. This research mechanism cannot effectively be applied to a complex system of diagnosis and treatment such as traditional acupuncture because, fundamentally each person will have a different diagnosis and therefore a different treatment plan EVEN if they have the same western labelled disease – this is what we mean by a ‘holistic’ approach.
So, until we can move forward from a place of idiocy and ignorance in the UK, where we are the only country in the world who have to abide by these backward and restrictive rules, I can only offer you the option to call or text me on 07786 950300 or email me at persis@welldragon.co.uk where I can tell you whether traditional acupuncture can help. I offer a free 20 minute consultation either on the phone or in person. The following paragraphs may explain a little more about our approach to treatment and health.
Traditional acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy which can be used for a range of conditions, both acute and chronic.
The Chinese way of understanding what happens to the body, mind and spirit when we experience illness or disease, relates closely to the innate knowledge of Natural Law. Basically, this means that the external environment can affect our bodies as any illness or disease manifests in the body in a particular way which causes or creates an excess or depletion of some kind. For example, sunstroke would be considered an excess or ‘attack’ of heat. Catching a cold would translate to an ‘invasion’ of cold and wind affecting the immune system, sinuses, the head and the muscles. Every human condition can be transposed in this way, as can the influence of prescription drugs on the body and acupuncture is the mechanism or tool which helps to correct these imbalances and return the person to a state of equilibrium and balance.
